Worthy Brothers, many of you…..okay, maybe some of you eagerly look forward each year to the Ohio State Council-sponsored Football Crazr ticket sales program that raises funds for our Archbishop Elder council.
You may recall the details of the program…..buy a ticket for $20 (or 2 for $40), contest runs for the final 10 weeks of the NFL season (Nov. 8 – Jan. 10), contestants get 4 different teams each week, winners are based on points scored by each contestant’s teams, 23 prizes paid out each of the 10 weeks. The rebate from State Council back to the council is based on # of tickets sold by our council.
In the past decade Elder Council has been only moderately successful with this program – selling anywhere between 75 and 125 tickets and generating rebate amounts of $400-$700. Typically, after a business meeting, a group of us would stuff 1-3 tickets per envelope, label and stamp ~250 envelopes, and mail them to members asking you to mail back a check and the ticket stub with your contact information. This method is proving to be neither efficient nor effective in this electronic age.
This year, we’re taking a different approach, one that the council leadership team thinks could be revolutionary! Introducing Zeffy – an electronic platform that many non-profits use for fundraising! Zeffy will allow you, our council members, to purchase tickets electronically either via credit card, ACH deduction from your bank account, or by sending us a check. Additionally, we’re offering a discount to incentivize purchasing more than one ticket!
Ticket purchase levels:
– 1 for $20
– 2 for $35
– 3 for $50
The benefits to you, our council members:
#1 – no hassling with a checkbook, filling out a ticket stub, stamping and mailing back a stub to the council
#2 – access the details of the program at the link or QR code below – and purchase tickets at the level you choose
#3 – the council will fill out the ticket stub with your information and mail you the tickets you have purchased so you can track the progress of your teams during the 10-week period
#4 – the council receives the full purchase price of the tickets; no fee is deducted (see below)
The last point is a primary reason non-profits use Zeffy: unlike Square, which deducts a fee from our proceeds when we use its reader for credit card payments at our Pancake Breakfasts or Pizza Sale, Zeffy charges the council no fee. Their “fee” is structured as an optional “tip” that the buyer (you) can choose to add to their purchase price. However, you can zero out that tip, ensuring you pay only the ticket price! To their credit, Zeffy is up front about this tip being optional for the end user.
Brothers, please help us raise funds to continue the good works of Archbishop Elder Council! If your circumstances dictate that you can’t attend meetings or participate in council programs and activities, please consider purchasing a couple tickets as a way to support your council. If this platform proves successful, we plan to implement it at future fundraisers and for our annual dues collection.
