The Knights of Columbus are getting the word out about this fantastic opportunity for Catholic men to be inspired and renewed in their faith. Additionally, there are opportunities to volunteer to work this event at the Cintas Center (contact info is at the bottom of the home page for those wanting to assist).
The 2023 Annual Abp. Elder Council Chili Cookoff!
Our 4th Annual Chili Cookoff was a success. Fifty-nine people (7-Priests, 11-Novices, and 41-Brothers and family members) participated in the festivities.
We had new Brothers (either new Knights or transfers into the Council) and some Brothers we have not seen for a while. Worthy Past Grand Knight Brother John Holden arrived with a pot of chili.
Provincial Prior, Fr. Allen Moran, O.P., Pastor and Worthy Chaplain, Fr. John Paul Walker, O.P., and Br. Peter Goyette, O.P. were the official judges. They had to judge 13 different chilis.
The competition was stiff, but in the end:
- John Pappalardo (son of Brother Jim) won the Gold Medal and a $25 gift card to Graeter’s Ice Cream.
- Joe Sharpshair and family won the Silver Medal and a $20 gift card to Graeter’s.
- Gerald Shannon won the Bronze Medal and a $10 gift card to Graeter’s.
A special thanks to Worthy Brothers Jim Pappalardo and Gerald Shannon for planning and leading this special event. The afternoon was a wonderful example of putting our faith in action by building fraternity and family, in solidarity with our Priests and Novices.
