Special thanks to Hanna Pearson who drove her truck, pulling her father Jonathan’s trailer through the parade. It was her first time pulling a trailer.
A big thanks thanks to Debbie Graham and Donna Marcello for keeping the Knights supplied with candy to distribute during the Parade..
Knights who participated: Kevin Graham, Pete Marcello, Phil Motz, Bill Shefcik, Dale Walczak.
Fred Thomas, a brother Knight and Lifetime Professed Lay Dominican, gave a tremendous talk on the Shroud of Turin and brought full size replicas of the Shroud for the June Rosary Social. Approximately 60 Knights, family members, parishioners, and Dominican Priests and Brothers attended.
Mark Holland provided us with some great pictures of our Council from the past. Our newly restored banner that led the way as our Council marched through the streets of Walnut Hills (our former home) many years ago. Our Council still marches through the tri-state: annually for the Independence Day Parade in Madeira, from Holy Name Church to the Planned Parenthood in Mt. Auburn, and through Eucharistic Processions at St. Gertrude.
A time-honored annual event returned for 2022 – the Knights of Elder Council feeding Dominican Friars and Novice Brothers of the Priory of St. Gertrude. SK John Mullan (our Treasurer and Faithful Navigator of Precious Blood Assembly) was head Chef in providing a scrumptious Chicken dinner for the men of the priory. It appears he was assisted by Grand Knight Phil Motz, Deputy Grand Knight Pete Marcello, Past Grand Knight Bob Stucker, and Treasurer Bill Shefcik.
Terri Huwel – Director of Old St. Mary’s Pregnancy Center – thanks the generous parishioners of St. Gertrude for their contribution of $7,900 from the Baby Bottle Fundraiser held in April/May!
A check was presented to Martha Spaeth on June 2, 2022, by the Knights of Columbus on behalf of the parish. Terri says, “A heartfelt ‘Thank You’ for the very generous check for Old St. Mary’s Pregnancy Center from your recent fundraiser at St. Gertrude. We trust in God completely for the needs of the center. This is an answer to prayer. Because of you, we will be able to help many families and children.”
May God bless those of you who have helped to raise over $87,00.00 for Old St. Mary’s Pregnancy Center in the last 12 years of Baby Bottle Fundraisers at St. Gertrude – you are truly making a difference in support of Life!
