Sunday, October 13, 2019, is Archbishop Elder Council’s Columbus Day Celebration.
It will commence at 12:30 PM with a Corporal Communion Mass at St. Gertrude Parish. Rows will be reserved on the St. Joseph’s side of the Church for Knights and their families. Pictures will be taken immediately after Mass in front of the Alter.
We will then proceed to the Parish Center for the social event. There will be beverages and light refreshments. Fr. André-Joseph will bless our Parade Banner. We’ll hear about the history of the Banner and the display case, talk about why Christopher Columbus is our namesake, witness an official sword presentation, and learn about Honor Flights. (agenda attached)
Most importantly, this is a time for us to reconnect with Brothers we haven’t seen in a while (a homecoming) as well as to meet new members. The celebration will conclude by 4:30 PM. We truly hope you will consider attending, even if you are unable to stay the entire time.
If you plan on attending:
- We need help with:
- Set-up before Mass. Plan to arrive in the Parish Center by NLT 10:30 AM.
- Clean-up after the celebration. It will take approximately one hour.
- Please let me know if you can help. The attached document contains the names of those who have already volunteered.
- Invite a Brother Knight. Call, or send an email or text to a Brother you have not seen for some time.   A personal invite goes a long way to encourage a Brother to attend.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.
Vivat Jesus!
