Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Abp. Elder Council gave a presentation and prayer service in honor of the founder of the Knights of Columbus, Blessed Michael McGivney.
We had approximately 225 people participate. There were many Brother Knights from our council, some whom we had not seen in quite a while. There was also a fine representation of Knights from the various councils within the Cincinnati area. In attendance were also numerous parishioners from St. Gertrude as well as from neighboring parishes.
Our Worthy Chaplain, Fr. John Paul Walker, O.P., gave an inspirational talk about our Founder, Blessed Michael J. McGivney, his early life, his life as a Parish Priest, and his firsthand knowledge of miracles which occurred after Fr. McGivney’s death. Fr. John Paul led us in the Litany to Fr. McGivney and the prayer for his canonization.
At the conclusion of the service, people waited in line for almost 30 minutes to venerate the First-Class Relic of Blessed McGivney; many touching either their rosary beads or prayer card to the Relic. It was edifying to witness.
A very nice social followed in the Parish Center.
A special thanks to all the Brothers who showed up early or stayed late to set up, serve as greeters, and tear down. A true demonstration of Brotherhood.
If you missed the presentation, St. Gertrude recorded it and uploaded it to their YouTube channel. You can watch it here:
