Oct. 13, 2019 – Abp. Elder Council hosted a great Columbus Day Celebration. Following a Corporate Communion Mass, our Worthy Chaplain, Fr. André-Joseph A. LaCasse, O.P. blessed our restored Parade Banner. Master of Ceremonies, Chancellor Pete Marcello discussed the history of Christopher Columbus and the Knights of Columbus. PGK Tom Hahn talked about the history of our 1907 Parade Banner and it’s recent restoration. Because our Worthy Warden John Ring was not able to attend, his son, Brother Jonathan Ring explained the work and symbolism that went into the construction of the display case for the newly restored banner. District Deputy Mark Kosebud conducted an Official Sword Presentation to John Mock. Years ago, John’s mother had lent our Council the use of his father’s 4th Degree Sword for any Knights in need of one, and now our Council was returning it to their family with deep gratitude. John discussed with us his father’s, Larry Mock, service to our country, the Church, and the Knights of Columbus. All in attendance also learned about the Honor Flights Program and received information on volunteering for this noble endeavor. Food, drinks, and good conversation was had by all. Vivat Jesus!
